Our Story

Betsy

Growing up in a tight-knit family, we lived the quintessential all-American life. My parents taught me about hard work, faith in God, and instilled the idea that you can accomplish anything in this great country. We gathered for dinner every night as a family and began every evening meal with prayer, always blessing the President of the United States and our military. My father is a U.S. Marine- something we have always been exceptionally proud of. It was at that dinner table where we spoke of politics and world events. I have fond memories of my father and grandfather disagreeing about various political issues. Feisty dinner conversation is so much fun! If you have not experienced it, I suggest you try it.

I have always been interested in politics; I've always considered myself a fiscal conservative. I have never been active until recently when I started paying closer attention to what is really going on in the world around me. I believe that people- especially women- need to start talking about the issues that affect our every day life. Freedom is something we all take for granted, to me it is everything.

Sheila

Like Betsy, I grew up with political conversation at the dinner table. I was raised with an understanding that America is a good, moral country whose founding documents reflect our innate freedom granted by God. My grandpa Jack and my "Greatest Generation" uncles served in WWII and their stories and songs of the era are some of my strongest childhood memories.

I've been passionate about my conservative beliefs from a young age. When all of the other kids wanted to be Walter Mondale in a 1984 Debate, I wanted to be Ronald Reagan. Reagan was cool-he won the youth vote by 20 points!

I've volunteered for the Republican Party over the years, but my true calling is as an activist. That word has been co-opted by the left, but really any active, involved woman in her community is an activist.I just happen to be a conservative one. From protesting Al Gore's attempt to discount overseas military votes in 2000 to organizing an event to "cool the panic" about global warming, I believe that when you see something wrong in the world, you should take action to change it.

How Cool Conservative Came to Be

Betsy and Sheila met through a mutual cool, conservative girlfriend. They immediately bonded as passionate conservatives and complete news junkies as well as stay-at-home moms. While other women were watching Oprah go on about "The Secret", Betsy and Sheila were watching Bill O'Reilly and listening to Rush. When Obama was elected to the White House and "change" seemed inevitable they took up the cause of conservatism by protesting at the Tax Day and Constitution Day Tea Parties in their home state of Minnesota as well as the National 9-12 Tea Party in Washington D.C. They grew frustrated by the media's blatant disregard for these protests as well as the left's portrayal of the attendees as "extremists" and "fringe" and decided to do something about it.

Like other women, Betsy and Sheila like to follow fashion. While left-thinking women can buy hundreds of designer items emblazoned with President Obama's image, or "green" propaganda, or any other number of liberal causes, there was no source for stylish goods for conservative women.

By wearing a tee-shirt and announcing that you're a proud conservative, you open up the conversation. When other women see that you're not an "extremist", you're her neighbor or her friend, shopping at the grocery store or dropping off the kids, they can see with their own eyes that the media is quite simply..wrong.

The goal of Cool Conservative: to win back women of all ages, one by one, to the right way of thinking and to take the country back. It is our country after all, and isn't She worth fighting for?
